New York, NY –
Beer lovers can rejoice for the plethora of options that line the shelves and walls at Valhalla, a Hell’s Kitchen corner pub that doesn’t look like much from the outside other than a rustic hole-in-the-wall joint. Considering how many specials they offer on a daily basis, you’ve been warned of the scarce seating if you come in during a busy hour. And for drinkers who are less than enthused about a joint dedicated to the hoppy drink, they also offer a full bar of liquor and red and white wines along with special ciders.
Think of this as a pub with slightly more class and a good vibe, or perhaps a beer garden that has been brought inside–it’s not sticky, it’s ventilated and offers a tad more upscale menu of bar food that includes grilled chicken sliders, a bavarian toasted pretzel and beer-battered fried pickles. The bar is spacious with plenty of long picnic tables and countertops and an open-windowed area to sit, while its noise level doesn’t make you compete with your neighbors to hold a normal conversation. The choices of international brews include beers from Belgium, Germany, Japan and a cask conditioned beer from California. It will take thirsty patrons at least twenty minutes to read over their extensive menu and check out their on-tap selections. If you’re curious about any flavors, the bartenders are more than happy to help your decision along with a couple of tastings.
The service is on point and is incredibly attentive–it would do you will be on your best behavior as it’s not a rowdy or pushy crowd, which only adds to its popularity. Despite it being located on the fringes of a touristy area, the patronage is very local and relaxed.
Here is their full list of daily specials which, in this economy, really can’t be beat:
- Lunch Special Mon-Fri, 12-4: Include any item from our bar menu with ANY beer for $10
- “Hoppy” Hour Mon-Fri, 12-4: 2-3 IPAs daily for $5.00
